I’m not dead…I just smell that way.

Hey folks. Thanks to everyone who has emailed asking if I’m still alive, well yep I am, just don’t come too close or your senses may tell you otherwise (oh and Steve, even if I was dead, no, you couldn’t have my job…).

Have just returned home from 4 weeks in the Simpson desert. Epic trip in more ways than one. If you have never seen the desert…GO NOW! What’s happening out there may not happen again for many, many years. You have all read about the flooding but the amount of water out there is nothing short of utterly bloody amazing. Again, if you have ANY interest in Australia’s wild places, scrape together a couple of weeks leave and get inland, you won’t be sorry.

Home now for 1 week then I fly out for the Kimberley again for a 3 day shoot. Looking forward to this one….well, it is the Kimberley, why wouldn’t I?

OK the below shot was something of a surprise. It was getting late in the day, I was lagging behind the crew when I spotted this scene. Jumped out and without much thought fired off an 8 shot sequence handheld…this is the result. I like it for what it is and recon it has a place on my office wall. Oh and this is the Hay River Track, just south of Madigans Camp 16 (Blaze Tree).

  1. Welcome home stranger! You still remember what a city looks like? ;)

That pano makes my heart bleed, i want to be there so bad. Was watching the new DVD a couple of weeks ago and it’s excellent! I think it’s the best one they’ve produced yet!

PS. One of your “possibly related posts”: “Frequent Flier: A Unique, Mystical Tea? (Best Not Tell Customs)” What exactly did you bring back from the bush????

  2. City? Do I want to remember what one of those is??

Thanks for the DVD feedback, I have been getting a heap of very positve encouragement, its great to see all the effort we put in reaching the end target…you!

    • From an “ergonomic” workstation in an office building in the CBD: no, you probably don’t want to remember what a city is!

Is the Shorty being flown to the Kimberley too?

  3. Nice to see you back Graham! been to lots of deserts but the ones with their life underground if you know what I mean.
Will have to go and see a real desert one day, just not too keen on all that red dust!

  4. Love the image! Sounds like you’ve been busy…and having fun at the same time. What a life! :-)

  5. Sounds like an absolute ball! I sure wish i was still out in the Kimberly rather than undertaking the same old daily routines!

  6. Good to see something new from you Graham and a cracker to boot!

I would rate this up there with your best actually!

  7. Mate awesome. I would kill to get out there but wouldnt want to be doing on my own or with the Mrs for that fact ;)
You should put some tours together, you dont seem that busy :)

  8. No worries dude!

  9. Graham,

Watched the DVD over the weekned – magnificent – right up there with your recent Kimberley efforts! Sounded like the turbo was working pretty hard too! Any idea how much longer those conditions/ wildflower blooms will last?

    Cheers!

    • Thanks for the kind words. I veru much doubt all the wildflowers would still be around as temps will have begun to climb by this time of year.
