Finally Home

Epic!

7500km’s, 29 days…Wyndham to Oombulgurri via the tablelands track. First vehicles through in a very, very long time.

Met the most down to earth and genuine people, travelled through country the brochures don’t show, camped in sacred places, ate traditional foods, caught barramundi, got bogged (several times)…and captured the whole shebang on film.

First DVD should be out around July…for those in the know, I recon this one will be an absolute CRACKER!

Thanks to Ronnie, Tommy Gun, and Uncle Kev, TJM (and the staff who put in an all nighter to get me on the road in time to meet the film crew), Cooper Tyres, Allied Rims (the top end boys thought the Phantoms were “deadly”), Red Centa and a big thanks to LeeThal for going above and beyond the call of mateship to get Shorty ready.

Six weeks break then we do it all again, this time we head for the north Simpson Desert…damn I freaking love this job!

Image of my last night on the road, bruised, beaten and battered…but not broken.

  1. And I asked if you’ve been busy!!! Haha. Understatement of the year. Bet you glad to be home, albeit for a short time!!

    • Yeah busy as a one legged soccer player mate. Good to be home….but…also good to be out bush ;)

  2. Was wondering wher you had been. Sounds like an epic trip, imagine you have some great images!

    • Yeah mate, one of those trips that you just shake your head and wonder how the heck you managed to get paid to do do such a thing!

  3. Wioked Graham. Sounds like it was heaps of fun.

  4. Sounds like my kind of fun, Good to see the shorty got you there and back. The pic looks good as well by the way.

  5. Welcome home Graham. You’ve been missed.

Looking at that photo inspires me to do stupid things, like pack up, run away and forget about this city life.

(hmmm, maybe not so stupid after all)

    • Thanks C

We should catch up soon. Did you go and have a look at West Oz challenge last month?

      • No I didn’t :( I haven’t been any frigging where this year yet. It would be incredibly upsetting if I hadn’t gone for Magnum in March. That was worth some sacrifice.

Yes let’s catch up! Will drop you an email.

  6. Hey Graham, WICKED DVD again, that trip looked truly inspiring!!! Some awesome production again as well, great shot – the heli flyovers were absolutely stunning. Big kudos on the final water crossing… You must have been wetting yourself for sure!

Look forward to seeing your next DVD shoot… Oh and good to see a fellow Nikon shooter.

    Cheers,

    jade

PS. What brand of suction mounts do you use for the videos? I’ve been looking to get a decent one that won’t leave my camera behind!

    • Hey Jade. Yeah heck of a trip hey, I loved every minute (well, maybe except that last crossing…I was shaking like a leaf). Those suction mounts are THE BOMB. We use them all over the trucks and they rarely to never fail. They are made by Manfrotto and are big $$ but for that style of thing worth every penny. I am hatching a plan to use one externally mounted on my car which will hold a SLR that can be fired remotely for moving shots of custom trucks…watch this space.

  7. Hi Graham, Just viewed your DVD absolutely fantastic great job. Looking forward to going back up that way in the future.
Ronnie is certainly a character, hope to see more adventures up that way. Excellent production. Cheers Dave

    • Cheers Dave. Mate Ron is one of the most respectable blokes I have met, he opened up his family and house for me and I cannot wait to get back up there and share a river and a couple of cold cans with those boys ASAP!

  8. Hi Grahsm,

Just got the DVD a couple of days ago, and what can I say! Wow!!!!

I watched the SW trip and said that was the best DVD ever (but maybe I was biased because I love the Pemberton area for camping and 4WDing. But that was nothing compared to this one. This one IS best ever and I hope you get to do many more.

I’m really looking forward to your next one through the Simpson as well. I recently did the Googs track, Oodnadatta track and the Anne Beadell Highway back to Perth. The desert out there is stunning.

    Eric

PS: Whats the best place on the 4WDAction website to put comments such as this becuause everyone needs to know that WA 4WDing is the best!

    • Hey Eric. Once again mate, thanks for the encouragement. I have JUST returned home from the Simpson…the amount of water out there at the moment is utterly amazing. I urge everyone who gives a toss go and see it while they can.

As for posting on the Action website, your best bet is to email Shaun, the more the bosses hear about WA, the more they will show it!

  9. Hi. I have watched this DVD 4 times since I recieved it last week. It is one of the best I have seen form 4WD Action. Congratulations!!!!!!!!! One thing some of the shots re panorama are too bloody short!!!!! What a country we live in leave some shots of it longer next time so we can all imagine the majestic area you have have travelled.

    • Thanks Johnno. Mate i has a ball filming that trip more than I can say. Talk about a wild environment, cant wait to get back into it with Ron and Tommy.

  10. Graham,
How do I access the photos you took on the DVD trip? Should be absolutely awe inspiring I imagine.
    Cheers
    Brad

    • Onya Brad…mate the images are currently tied up with production, not sure of their release date. I will post them ASAP.
